About Me
I am an established piano and voice teacher. I recently retired from teaching at San Jacinto College; having taught there 37 years. I have also taught
part-time at Lee College, in Baytown, Texas. I grew up loving to play the piano and continued lessons through my Bachelor's and Master's Degree.
At North Texas I studied with Larry Walz. Since graduation from college, I have taught piano. I am a member and judge for the National Piano Guild.
I enjoy judging; I have judged throughout the United States and in Hawail, Taiwan, Mexico, and China.
I plan for "success" for every student. The first step is to find their learning style and give assignments where they can be successful and become
a better musician. Each student is special to me and I rejoice in their learning each step long the way to becoming a pianist.
My Musical Education Background
I always played the piano. I love the sound of the piano! In high school I sang in the choir and played in the band. In college I played in all the ensembles:
band, choir and orchestra (The Wichita Falls Symphony). At the University of Texas I sang with the Accapella Choir. The Choral Departtment joined forces and performed the Bach b minor Mass with the Dallas Symphony. That is a lifetime memory for all of us. I love church music; I directed church choirs for 30 years, having many high points. One high point was conducting the Easter Portion of the Messiah and having the trumpet player from the Houston Symphony
accompanying us with our organist playing a Baroque trumpet.

I purchase the music and books to make sure we get the right materials and the students reimburse me.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I love teaching all ages and levels of students. I love to get a student at the beginning and keep them through advanced repertoire. I strive to give them
a firm foundation on which to build. One mother brought me her son in the second grade and said, "You have him until he graduates from High School.
I did! He play pie10 pieces of advancing difficulty for the piano Guild for 10 years; graduating with an hour long audition by memory with a thorough technique examination ofscales, chords, and arpeggios 4 octaves. He went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance and a Master's degree in Music Literature. Adults are very special to me; they are usually very busy but piano adds a special dimension to their life. I take a student from where they are and
encourage them to move to higher goals and greater intrinsic rewards. I believe the love of the sound of the piano and making music is the most
important value of piano study; and that is "intrinsic" and last forever.
