About Me
Most piano programs focus on FACTS and getting kids to cram as much information as possible into their heads. This doesn't leave a lot of room for creativity, natural curiosity, or just plain enjoyment.
Students in the Wiskur Music Studio are surprised by how much they enjoy their lessons, and how confident and excited they feel heading home after a lesson, instead of confused and discouraged. Several of the parents sitting in on lessons have commented how this method is so different from the lessons they remember enduring growing up!
In a nutshell, we consider basic musical skills a priority, and encourage diligence in mastering the foundation of skill required for every genre. After that, we follow the students' lead. We teach them what they want to learn. What fascinates and inspires them - Bach, Mozart, the Beatles, Taylor Swift, whatever it may be.
Students in the studio generally complete their books at a quicker pace than the average timeline given by the curriculum creators, and get on to "the really fun stuff" quickly!

Graduated from Indiana University - Bloomington / Jacobs School of Music in 2011 with a Bachelors of Music degree in Piano Performance
Was offered a position and taught in the University's Pre-College Department for 2 years

Specialize in Classical, but have experience with many types of music. Theory classes available as well.

All ages and skill levels welcome! I have taught students from ages 4 years to 66 years, from absolute beginners to advanced high school seniors planning to major in music.
