About Me
As the child of a music teacher, my life was surrounded by music from a young age. As a teacher, I want my students to learn to sight-read, play by ear, improvise, and learn rhythms correctly among many other things. Additionally, I desire for them to get beyond the notes and sing or play expressively from the heart, constantly gaining confidence in their performances.
My Musical Education Background
Martha Yanson is a free-lance collaborative pianist at Jacksonville State University where she plays for vocal students, faculty recitals, instrumental recitals, and opera rehearsals. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Bob Jones University. She spent eight years teaching K-12 music, conducting choirs, and accompanying for choral groups and soloists. Since 2008, Martha has kept a private music studio in her home, currently in Anniston, Alabama. She has served as accompanist for NATS, choral festivals and camps, and ACDA honor choirs, and performed with the Rivertree Singers in Greenville.
